Campaigns to support

Below are some suggestions of campaigns you might like to add your voice to:

Operation Noah – an ecumenical Christian charity providing leadership, focus and inspiration in response to the growing threat of catastrophic climate change. Faith motivated, science informed, hope inspired. Support the campaign and get updates here.Their current campaign is Bright Now – towards fossil free churches. They believe that churches need to disinvest from fossil fuel companies if they are to retain their integrity in the face of climate change.

The Robin Hood Tax – This tax on the financial sector has the power to raise hundreds of billions every year globally. It could give a vital boost to the NHS, our schools, and the fight against child poverty in the UK – as well as tackling poverty and climate change around the world. Not complicated. Just brilliant. Almost 640,000 already support this tax – add your name now.

End Ecocide – a European Citizens’ Initiative envisioning a world without ecocide. We want to protect the human right to live in a healthy environment, for today’s and future generations. Have a look at my post for more.

Positive Money – a movement to democratise money and banking so that it works for society and not against it. Our current financial system has left us with the highest personal debt in history, unaffordable housing, worsening inequality, high unemployment and banks that are subsidised and underwritten with taxpayers’ money. We believe that these problems have a common root: money.

Walk Free – a movement of millions of people everywhere fighting to end one of the world’s greatest evils: modern slavery.

Tourism Concern – the only organisation in Europe actively campaigning on tourism & human rights issues. Their mission is to ensure that tourism always benefits local people

There are obviously lots of organisations who campaign on a variety of issues that are close to their hearts. I’m sure you already support at least 1 of these but could you get involved with more – whether that is taking action, donating or praying?

38 Degrees – brings you together with other people to take action on the issues that matter to you and bring about real change. 38 Degrees is the one of the UK’s biggest campaigning communities, with over 1 million members. We share a desire for a more progressive, fairer, better society and come together to decide which issues we campaign on and the actions we‘ll take to help us achieve that. 38 Degrees is the angle at which an avalanche happens.

Change – empowering people everywhere to create the change they want to see. Change.org is the world’s largest petition platform, empowering people everywhere to create the change they want to see. There are more than 20 million Change.org users in 196 countries, and every day people use their tools to transform their communities – locally, nationally and globally.

350 – climate-focused campaigns, projects and actions led from the bottom-up by people in 188 countries.

SumOfUs – a movement of consumers, workers and shareholders speaking with one voice to counterbalance the growing power of large corporations. Join them on their journey as they seek to make the world a better place for us, our children and all who share our planet.

Avaaz – the campaigning community bringing people powered politics to decision-making worldwide. Almost 34m members worldwide.
